Visiting Napa Valley

About the Napa Valley Wine Country

Visiting Napa Valley Napa Valley is a leading travel destination in the world. Beautiful views – mustard in the late winter, picturesque rolling hills planted with vineyards year-round and wineries at every turn. Whether you are wine tasting, dining at renowned restaurants, pampering yourself with a mud bath in Calistoga, or just enjoying your stay at quaint bed & breakfasts, hotels or resorts … Napa Valley is your spot of heaven on earth.

30 miles long and a few miles wide, Napa Valley is home to hundreds of wineries. It features diverse microclimates and soils suited to a variety of fine wine grapes. There are many acclaimed wines produced in the Napa Valley region. Some are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel and Cabernet Franc. Even though the Valley is small, it has a big reputation.

The Napa Valley region has a natural beauty and winegrowing heritage for future generations. Though just 4% of California’s wine grape harvest, Napa Valley is small in size yet big in stature. It was the first AVA to be designated in California in 1981.

In Napa Valley, this generous climate provides consistency and exceptional quality that few other winegrowing regions can say. This region has a great geologic history and has many remarkable microclimates, as well as some of the most diverse soils. As a result, an array of premium wine grapes thrives here.

In spite of its international renown, Napa Valley is one of the smallest winegrowing regions in the world, with only one-eighth the planted acreage of Bordeaux. Nearly all wineries (95%) are family owned.

The Napa Valley appellation and wine industry is one of the best in the world.
